So abundant, it has become a brand of the country and a reference of Brazilian culture.
This fruit, so democratic, practical and full of nutrients, is very popular in Brazil and highly consumed by the population. It is rich in carbohydrates and potassium. It contains vitamin A, C, the B complex, calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc and sodium, as highlighted in the Ministry of Health book “In the kitchen with fruits, vegetables and greens”.
Fruits, including bananas, are foods with a fundamental role in promoting and maintaining health. Even better: they are examples of in natura foods and should be part of our food routine. Its nutritional characteristics benefit intestinal functioning, due to the fiber content, and the balance of vital body functions, in addition to helping to prevent chronic diseases.
And speaking of health, bananas are a source of energy! Its carbohydrates are absorbed quickly by the body. She is also the darling of athletes, as potassium helps to avoid fatigue and muscle cramps, while complex B vitamins are responsible for cell and muscle renewal. The fruit is also great for children and those suffering from digestive disorders, as it helps in the treatment of diarrhea.
No wonder it is considered by many to be the perfect fruit: it ripens little by little, off the tree, making harvesting easier. It is easy to transport, has good use and can be found throughout the year. But despite this huge availability in Brazilian lands, bananas have their harvest period in January, February, March, June and October. […]
