Many men know that peace has not been established once and for all and forever. So they think a lot about everything that needs to be done to build it and avoid war.
Peace can be sown anywhere, all the time. It is built when we learn the history of the world, when we dialogue with those who have different ideas, when we react to injustice.
At school, the big ones blackmail the little ones. One of the students will talk to the principal to end this blackmail: this student, not closing his eyes to what is happening, reacting, is building peace. The director looks for the profiteers, punishes them and explains why they are being punished: he is building peace.
An article appears in the newspaper proposing to ban the broadcast of football matches on television. Thousands of people react and publish articles to say they don't agree: they help build peace.
The leaders of all the world's religions come together to talk about what they have in common, about everything that is similar in their beliefs, about the importance of life. They show that it is possible to dialogue; even if they don't agree on everything: they build peace.
Men choose not to forget the past: together, they remember the end of an ancient war. One day, in their families or communities, the elders tell the young people how that war started, what life was like at that time, what they could have done to prevent it: they build peace.
In several cities in Europe, for example, to remember the end of World War II, men built monuments in honor of those who died fighting. Thus, people do not forget that war exists and that it is necessary to pay attention so that it does not return.
In schools, teachers teach history. And, together with the students, they try to understand why wars are breaking out all over the world. They reason together and ask themselves: can they happen again? What can be done to avoid them? In doing so, they build peace.
