Peter Pan, the boy who didn't want to grow up, initially published as a play, won the hearts of many children and adults, becoming one of the greatest classics of world literature. The story of the boy who lives in Neverland and refuses to grow up was created from the stories that Barrie told the children of her friend, Sylvia Davies. But the character may also have been inspired by Barrie's brother, who died when he was still a child. Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy, Lost Boys and Captain Hook are complex characters and bring depth and pertinent discussions about childhood to the work.
