The egg

As sensitive as it is precious: this is how we can begin to describe the egg. One of the most versatile foods in cuisine not only in Brazil, but around the world. Just imagine the infinity of forms and preparations for consumption. Alone, cooked, stirred, in sweet or savory recipes that include this food in the ingredient list. It goes from main course to dessert adding a lot of flavor and nutrition. That's because it's part of the food list

in natura, which should be the basis of the diet, which makes it an adequate and healthy option.

Speaking specifically of chicken eggs, we can highlight the fact that they are a source of various nutrients.

According to the publication “Demystifying doubts about Food and Nutrition”, produced by the Ministry of Health, egg white it is rich in proteins and the yolk in lipids, vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds that improve the levels of inflammatory markers, which are substances related to metabolic alterations and the development of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular and cancer.

The inclusion of eggs as part of meals is important not only from a nutritional point of view, but also socially and economically. The consumption of this food drives a production chain that begins in the countryside, involving several people who work there and earn their living from this trade. These hands produce 1,500 eggs per second. In 2020 alone, it was a total of 53 billion.

Here in Brazil, eggs are often consumed as an accompaniment to rice and beans or other vegetable foods, being highly valued for the flavor they add to the meal. All this thanks to its versatility and for being a more affordable option to replace meat in general and fish.

And they leave nothing to be desired! According to the “Food Guide for the Brazilian Population”, prepared by the Ministry of Health, eggs are alternatives to other foods. animal origin, and can be consumed boiled, stirred or fried or as ingredients in omelets and soufflés and various other preparations culinary.
