The Lear's Macaw is an endangered bird unique to Brazil. The current population has around 1,500 individuals across the country. These birds form couples that reproduce once a year, generating up to three eggs, but most of the time, only two chicks survive.
The nests are usually in natural cavities, often invaded by exotic bees. The main predator is the Chilean eagle.
There are also other threats that endanger the survival of the Lear's Macaw, such as animal trafficking and habitat destruction.
