the oxen strike

The oxen were worried because they heard of an oxen strike.
– But why do these birds go on strike? – asked the young Romulus.
“The other day, one of us accidentally stepped on the paw of a woodpecker,” explained Biju. – After that, he didn't want to work anymore. The other birds feed it.
– Who will rid us of our pesky little parasites? asked the old ox.
– This itches too much, we won't hold for long!

- Well we will have to do without them! - Romulus suggested.
- Of course not! They need our parasites, and we need them to get them out of us.
Coming to this conclusion, the oxen went to talk to the oxen. The birds agreed that they needed the oxen, and these the birds. Then, not long after, the oxen rested in the pasture, and the birds came back to peck at them.
