According to Professor Las Casas, from the UFMG Astronomy Nucleus, the basic principle of the rocket is the next: the rocket ejects a gas towards the Earth, which causes it to be pushed towards the Space.
Anyone who has seen images of a rocket in the movies must have noticed that amount of fire that comes out from the bottom of it – they are gases ejected at very high speeds and temperatures. As these gases are thrown down, they push the rocket up!
