If you had a fax that is actually an unlikely time machine, who would you bring to a conversation in your living room? Clara and Neto decided to bring Brazilian historical characters from the period of colonization of Brazil to the present day.
Inspired by the project of Cao Hamburger, Teo Poppovic and Paulinho Caruso and directed by Tom Hamburger, the series “Canal da História” tells the adventures of teenagers Clara (Letícia Fagnani) and Neto (Felipe Frazão) rediscovering the history of Brazil in a way unusual. After finding an abandoned fax machine that is also a time machine, they create an internet video channel to interview characters from the story talk-show style. For Clara and Neto, two modern young people, Internet and lovers of the history of Brazil, it is time to review the official Brazilian history giving space for new voices to narrate the (mis) paths.
From Cabral to Getúlio Vargas, passing through Zumbi dos Palmares, Carmen Miranda and Mário Juruna, the history of Brazil is retold and reconnected through technology. With light language, the program tells our story with humor and content specially designed to please and teach the young audience, moving away from the conventional format of teaching History: without linguistic fiddles, without memorizing and narrating a multiple, diverse and more Brazilian history democratic. The strong point of the series is precisely that it gives voice to other narrators, instead of telling the story from a colonizing perspective, as is common to find in textbooks.
The new series consists of 26 episodes of 12 minutes each. After being aired on Canal Futura, producer partner of Cao and Tom Hamburger, all episodes will be available on futuroplay.org and YouTube.
