The spring

The spring, Nengetus cinereus, belongs to the Tyrannidae family, related to the well-te-vi, suiriri and risadinha, also having two subspecies. It is a small bird, measuring up to 22 cm, with a black tail and gray and white feathers, which highlight the reddish eyes when adults.

Their food is based on insects and amphibians, including fish in their diet.

The bird usually lives in pairs, but it is also common to inhabit urban areas. It has the habit of sleeping in sheltered places and when it takes off it is visible to see a white stripe on its wings.

The species is seen in almost all of Brazil and is also present in other Latin American countries, such as Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia.
