Instead of a simple roof, a roof garden for your home. Have you thought? Many architects and engineers not only thought about this idea, but also put it into practice. It's what they call a green or ecological roof. Instead of ordinary tiles, he uses soil and vegetation to cover houses, buildings or offices.
For a green roof to work well, you must first cover the area with rubber called asphalt tarpaulin to prevent leaks. The next step is to apply a blanket made of permeable material. It serves as a filter and prevents sand or roots, for example, from falling into the pipe that will drain the water, causing clogging.
On top of this filter blanket, a layer of clay balls is placed, which help to make the roots of the plants more airy. Then, another layer of permeable blanket is applied and that's it! Now it is possible to create the garden.
To plant the green roof, we need a layer of at least ten centimeters of composted soil. It is important to choose species that do not grow very tall, so that the garden does not become heavy.
In addition to being beautiful, these roofs are quite useful: they manage to absorb part of the rainwater (something that does not happen on conventional slabs), reduce heat and noise and can be used to plant food, forming a vegetable garden suspended! How about planting this idea in your home?
