It is one of the most popular swallows in the United States. It measures around 20 centimeters and surprises for carrying out one of the most impressive migration journeys: it travels around 12,000 kilometers from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere.

Male and female are very different. The male lives up to its name, as it has predominantly dark blue plumage with bright tones. The female, on the other hand, has a more discreet plumage with tones that vary from white to grayish. It feeds on insects and has the ability to hunt in flight. Currently, the species breeds only in man-made nests. The female is responsible for incubating the eggs, usually for up to 16 days.

Also considered representatives of migratory birds, swallows have always indicated the arrival of a new season. Between spring and summer, they arrive in our country leaving behind the intense cold of the northern hemisphere. […]
