The use of popcorn in diverse peoples of America is well documented. In Peru, samples have already been found, dating from 4700 a. C., and popcorn fossils found in New Mexico, in the United States, date back to the previous millennium. In North America, Indians used to adorn their hair with popcorn. The Aztecs, in turn, not only put them on their heads, but also offered them “in honor of the gods”. These historical discoveries led archaeologists to believe that the first use of cultivated corn was precisely to make popcorn.
