Most beings are born from other individuals, but there is a certain species that reproduces itself. The Assyrians call it the phoenix. It doesn't live on fruits or flowers, but on incense and scented roots. After having lived for five hundred years, she makes a nest in the branches of an oak tree or in the top of a palm tree. In it, he gathers cinnamon, nard and myrrh, and with these essences he builds a pyre on which he stands and dies, exhaling his last breath amid the aromas. From the bird's body, a young phoenix appears, destined to live as long as its predecessor. After growing up and acquiring sufficient strength, she takes the nest from the tree (her own cradle and her father's sepulcher) and takes it to the city of Heliopolis, in Egypt, depositing it in the temple of the “Sun”.
