NAME:

the known monkey

A long time ago, all animals lived in the forest, in a society. The monkey was intelligent, the jaguar very strong. The monkey learned many things: he knew how to fish and one day he discovered that rubbing two pieces of wood together gave fire. With the fire he cooked his food, and the whole animal world smelled that good and wanted to learn from the monkey.
But the jaguar, who was strong and dumb, didn't want to learn anything. I was watching the monkey to eat his food, which was already ready. That's how, one day, the jaguar suddenly appeared in the monkey's house, who had caught, at that moment, a large fish.

The jaguar said:
– I want this fish.
The monkey replied, trembling with fear:
– I'll cook first, then we'll eat.
The jaguar licked its lips, but the monkey decided to teach the bold one a lesson and said:
– To cook I need a fire. Go get me fire.
- Where?
“Over there.” The monkey pointed at the sun, which at that moment looked like a torch.
The jaguar foolishly ran towards the sun. She walked, walked, walked and found no sun.
The more she thought she was close to that fire, the farther away she found herself.
So, tired and hungry, she walked all over the forest.
The smart monkey took advantage of the enemy's absence, made his little fire, cooked the fish and ate everything. She left only the spine. That's when she saw that the jaguar was coming back. She climbed a very tall tree and waited.
The jaguar arrived furious and saw the fish spine and the extinguished ember. She screamed:
– Monkey, you pay me! I'm hungry and I haven't found any fire. The fire was with you. Get down from there!
The monkey:
– I don't go down, no, I'm not a fool.
The jaguar:
'I'm going to starve,' and she licked her spine until she burned in the embers. […]
From this day forward the jaguars never got involved with the monkeys again.
