On May 29, 1919, the city of Sobral in Ceará entered history as the place that allowed confirm the Theory of General Relativity, developed by the German physicist Albert Einstein a few years ago before.
Einstein predicted that, as it passed the edge of the Sun, the starlight would be bent toward the star-king. And he had suggested that this could be observed and measured during a total eclipse of the Sun.
It was a Thursday morning. The day had dawned overcast, to the concern of British and Brazilian researchers, who have over a month were preparing to observe the eclipse, with large telescopes and equipment photographic.
But just before 9 am, the sky opened up and the total eclipse could be observed by everyone. Many photographs of the Sun and stars near its edge were taken.
