He was happy. How simple it was to live in our land! Four thousand reis a year, taken from the earth, easily, sweetly, happily! Oh! Blessed land! How did everyone want to be a public employee, rot in a stall, suffer in their independence and their pride? How do you prefer to live in cramped houses, with no air, no light, breathing an epidemic environment, living on bad food, when one could so easily obtain a happy, full, free, joyful and healthy?
