The latest version of Midjourney, a famous Artificial Intelligence imaging system, introduces a very peculiar new function called ‘Zoom Out’. This feature allows you to generate a scene around a central image, simulating the zoom effect of a camera.
The launch of Midjourney 5.2 brought several improvements and changes, but the highlight is the introduction of Zoom Out, which expands the field of view of images. Unlike similar features in other AI-enabled programs, Zoom Out only works with images generated by Midjourney itself and cannot be applied to custom images.

To use this mechanism, just generate an image in the latest version of Midjourney and select the zoom buttons available below. Users have options such as zooming out by 1.5x, 2x, or choosing a custom value between 1 and 2. With custom zoom, it is also possible to modify the instruction before enlarging the image, turning it into a painting on the wall. See the image below as an example.
In addition, Midjourney 5.2 introduces the Make Square feature, which allows you to expand a non-square image vertically or horizontally, generating new content and creating a square image. Users are sharing awesome examples of this tool and its diverse options, marveling at the results.
AI-generated art is evolving rapidly, but its use in media is still controversial. Recently, Method Studios confirmed that the opening scene of the new Marvel series, “Secret Invasion”, was created with the aid of AI, which generated debate about the quality of the final result, in addition to the arbitrary substitution of the authentic and creative mind of an artist with years of experience.
Although much criticized, the company emphasized that no job has been replaced by Artificial Intelligence, but many people argue that the opening animation was not very good precisely because there was not the sensitive and human touch that only an artist can to offer.
