O Whatsapp finally released a feature that allows the messaging service to be used in multiple devices at the same time. The new features, announced a little while ago, will be available for Android and iOS systems.

With this new feature, you can use your account on up to four devices without having to connect your phone to an internet network. Check out more information.

Until July of this year, only the few people who had the beta version (used in tests) of the application installed on their cell phones were able to access the new features. Now more and more people (even with regular apps installed) are starting to notice a new feature in WhatsApp settings called “multiple appliances“.

Appliances connected at the same time in the app!

To take advantage of this feature, open WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop on the device you want to connect and follow the steps below:

On iPhone:

  • First, open the WhatsApp application on your mobile phone;
  • Then click on “settings”;
  • Click on “Connected devices” and then on “Connect a device”;
  • Finally, point your cell phone's camera at the screen of the device you want to connect and scan the QR code.

On Android:

  • First, open the WhatsApp application on your mobile phone;
  • Then click on “More options” and then on “Connected devices”;
  • Click on “Connect a device” and then on “ok” to confirm your action;
  • Finally, point your cell phone's camera at the screen of the device you want to connect and scan the QR code.

Incompatibility of some features

WhatsApp also states that this beta version to enable multiple devices does not support the following features:

  • View and share real-time location on added devices;
  • The possibility of pinning conversations in WhatsApp versions available for computers;
  • Joining groups and viewing/resetting group invites on desktop versions of WhatsApp;
  • Change your business name or labels in WhatsApp Business using the desktop versions of WhatsApp;
  • Send messages or make calls to your contacts who use very old versions of WhatsApp;
  • Make calls using desktop versions of WhatsApp for devices not participating in the multi-device beta;
  • Other WhatsApp accounts will only work if they are participating in the multi-device beta.
