1. Identifying Parkinson's disease

Researchers have published an AI that identifies Parkinson's. Experts prove that the disease is not something easy to discover, as many signs become evident only when the disease is advanced.

Neurological disease can be discovered by the patterns in which the person breathes while sleeping. In addition to identifying the disease, the system can also measure the severity and evaluate in cases of improvements. In 86% of cases, just one night's sleep is enough for the AI to identify the disease.

2. Language translation through Meta's speech

The organizing company of Facebook, Meta, created the tool that enables the translation of languages through speech. Translators usually use written words to translate something.

Testing was done so that the AI could translate from English to Hokkien, using methods that were almost impossible to adopt. Hokkien is not a language that has writing, it only happens in speech. The same system, as indicated by Meta, may be useful in the future for translating other languages using voice.

3. AI that fills in missing words in ancient writings

The tool was created so that researchers could fill in small words that were incomplete. By name Ithaca, AI helped historians to repair some words and identify the place of origin of that writing.

DeepMind researchers pointed out that the system is considered “the first deep neural network” able to identify parts of the text that are incomplete or writings that have been damaged by the time.

4. AI to identify and predict scents

Artificial intelligence can create or identify different types of smells. The research was based on previous results for the technology to be reproduced in order to create a “major odor map”. In research, the AI is able to identify which molecules produce the smell.

Intelligence can be part of different sectors, including to avoid diseases that are transmitted by insects. The health market, large fragrance and food industries could benefit from artificial intelligence.

5. Identifying the emotion of pigs

The tool can identify and interpret the sounds that pigs emit. Through these sounds, they interpret what emotions are being felt at the moment. The goal is for agriculture to be able to observe the emotions of animals.

The AI makes use of a large arsenal of recordings of over 400 pigs. Thus, the researchers developed a kind of algorithm for artificial intelligence to identify the emotions that pigs feel. More than 7,000 audio recordings were useful in training the algorithm, making it reach the correct emotion 92% of the time.
