The new transport company model Uber expands its priority service to seven other Brazilian cities. This alternative modality allows users to “skip the queue” to find the driver and pick up their ride paying a slightly higher price. However, no one knows for sure how the calculation that is made works.

This new modality arrived in Brazil last year, in October. When it started, Prioridade operated only in the municipalities of Campinas (SP) and Belém (PA). However, currently, Uber is taking the service to the cities of Santos (SP), Vitória (ES), João Pessoa (PB), Cuiabá (MT), Campo Grande (MS), São Luís (MA) and Goiânia (GO). ).
If you live in a city served by the new model, you can request the service in the platform application without updating. When choosing the locations for your trip, the option will appear next to the existing categories, depending on demand and the time of day.
According to the company, Uber Prioridade offers the same quality and safety standards as the other available options. As mentioned, the price is slightly higher, allowing passengers to “skip the queue”, and agreeing to pay a higher price than a regular ride.
Currently, the Priority Uber option is only available for peak demand and for trips over 10km, not to mention that it does not have defined opening hours (it depends on the dynamics of the local). In addition, as in all categories, drivers can decide whether or not to accept the race.
In addition to user benefits, such as shorter waiting times, the new category also offers benefits to partner drivers, such as higher profits, as passengers pay more compared to to UberX. When available, trips are still subject to dynamic pricing.
Priority trips that are requested are priced based on the UberX price to the same destination, although it is not clear how much more will be charged or how this calculation is done.
