“He [Camilo Santana] will talk to other unions so that we can establish, both with educators and with students, a new discussion about High School [...], I am sure it will do what is best for the students”, said Lula.
On March 9, the Ministry of Education (MEC) opened a public consultation to discuss the implementation of the reform. According to a published ordinance, the consultation will last for 90 days and public hearings, work, seminars and national surveys with the school community across the country to carry out this lifting.
Critics of the Secondary Education reform point out that the most vulnerable schools tend to offer fewer itinerary options to students. In addition, another weakness of the reform is the offer of new disciplines with little structure.
"Brigadeiro homemade" and "RPG" appear among the articles offered in the state network of São Paulo, which already brings together at least 1526 disciplines, according to the newspaper Leaf of St. Paul. Many teachers complain about not having adequate training to teach outside their areas.
The New Secondary School was officially implemented in the country in early 2022. The idea is for the implementation to be gradual, starting with the first year of High school until it is completed in 2024, covering the three years of this teaching stage.
