Read:
He wears a black mask, is skittish and is rarely seen. At the slightest sign of danger, he leaves quickly. It has a black band over its eyes on both sides of the face and, for this reason, the bird is also known as a masked tico-tico.
In addition to the black band on the eyes, this bird has, near this region, higher up, another band, white, a little thinner, further highlighting the mask of the face. The rest of the head is black, the back and wings are greenish and the body mixes shades ranging from gray to black. The tail follows the greenish pattern of the back, but inside it is darker, making the light tips stand out. The bicolor beak is really curious: the upper part is black, following the shade of the mask, and the lower part is yellow. Different, isn't it?
The masked specie lives in regions of tall grass, shrubs and small trees. It usually feeds on the ground. Grains, fruits, seeds and insects can make up your diet. But, being a very skittish animal and rarely found, its habits are little known. The researchers, for now, only suspect that spring is the preferred season for the species' reproduction. On the other hand, they have already discovered that the masked worm builds its nests on the ground, where fire can easily reach them. So when the fields where they live burn down, they lose their eggs and chicks.
Knowing more about the masked tico-tico requires the conservation of its environment and a lot of observation. Today, in addition to burning, the transformation of fields into pasture and planting land threatens the bird's existence, which can be extinguished without having better information about it.
