The satellite internet operator, Starlink, of the company SpaceX, which belongs to the world-renowned billionaire, Elon Musk, has been operating in our country since January, after receiving approval from the National Telecommunications (ANATEL). However, even if it is being marketed through its plans and operating normally, some contractual service information ends up infringing consumer rights.

Hiring is done directly through the company's website, making use of commercial practices that end up violating some guidelines of the General Regulation of Consumer Rights of Telecommunications Services (RGC) and also of the Code of Defense of Consumer (CDC). The two documents mentioned are a reference for all companies that offer any type of service within the same sector in which Starlink operates here in our country.
According to some information gathered by the Folha de São Paulo report, Starlink is not complying with the basic requirements requested by ANATEL about the service provider in our national territory, as there is no address in the documents or the corporate name of the company over here. This would be the first of a few items that end up hurting Brazilian guidelines. In another part of the contractual information, the company says it can suspend the service for reasons other than non-payment of invoices, which also ends up going against RGC rules.
One more practice carried out by the company that ends up contravening the CDC and also ANATEL's own regulations concerns the amount charged for the monthly service. In the month of January of this year, the amount charged was approximately R$ 530.00 per month, but after August 25th, the amount dropped to approximately R$ 230.00 per month, without the addition of taxes. In addition, billionaire Elon Musk's company also informs the amount due, however, differently from all other internet operators here in Brazil, where it claims that "reserves the right to adjust the price charged for other factors", without having to discriminate costs or reasons that may end up influencing future adjustments in values.
The sale of equipment to receive Starlink's internet signal also ends up showing some irregularities. At first, the operators always transfer the handsets in the lending model, in which the handsets are installed, as well as being exchanged in cases of updates, without generating other costs for the consumer. Starlink, in addition to charging approximately R$ 2,000 to transfer the connection structure, also says that in future technology-related upgrades, the customer will need to pay again and bear the costs of purchasing a new device.
