NAME:
Beatriz needed to work, but she had no one to leave her youngest son, Nicolas. She tried the only public day care center close to home, but there was no space. Until a vacancy appeared in the “Obra do cradle” in 2015. “My cousin was assisted by them and told me that the children had a great support”, she says. The boy stays at the NGO from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. She receives food, studies and participates in storytelling circles. The eldest son, Lucas, was also assisted: he participated in the Entrepreneurial Education Program for Young People. In addition, the “Obra do cradle” suggested to Beatriz that she look for the Work Support Center (CAT), of the city hall, where, in the beginning 2016, she got her current job: a job as an attendant at Poupatempo (state agency that offers services to citizens). “Since I know Nicolas is being taken care of, I have peace of mind to work”, says the mother, relieved.
