According to the PEC, released this Thursday, the 14th, the PIX of R$ 1,000 will be allocated to drivers self-employed on highways that have an active registration in the National Registry of Road Cargo Transporters (RNTRC). Drivers registered as MEI Caminhoneiro who also have an active registration with the RNTRC are also entitled to the benefit. As a result, more than 900,000 drivers will have access to the funds, which will be paid in 6 installments, two of which are scheduled for August 9th.
The remaining installments are scheduled for September, October, November and December. To pay the full amount of this benefit, taking into account the other expansion projects, more than R$ 40 billion will be allocated from the government coffers. For the truck driver program, only R$ 5.4 billion of the total will be allocated.
The expectation is that PIX Caminhoneiro payments will be made in the most practical way possible, through transfers made by Caixa Econômica Federal. The objective is to make payments through the Caixa Tem application, available for iOS and Android.
After the adoption of the PEC, payments should start in August and last until the end of December. Following the commercial milestones of the change, the PIX Caminhoneiro payment schedule will be made public after the end of the legal procedures.
Although the aid is of great momentary help during the period of crisis and high gasoline prices, several members of the Brazilian Association of Automotive Vehicle Drivers (Abrava) expressed dissatisfaction with the measure. This is because, according to the allegations, workers need better working conditions.
