This Monday (5) the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, announced the return of the program Green Bag. The statement was made public during a commemorative event for World Environment Day at the Planalto Palace.
The Bolsa Verde program will be re-established with the aim of providing financial subsidies to families residing in traditional communities in the Amazon and in reserve areas.

According to minister Marina Silva, during the press conference with journalists, families living in extractive reserve areas and communities traditional Amazonians received financial assistance from the government in recognition of their services rendered in protecting the environment environment.
She pointed out that approximately 80% of protected forests globally are under the responsibility of these communities. The Bolsa Verde program seeks to promote the essential role of these communities in preserving ecosystem services.
In 2017, during the government of Michel Temer, Bolsa Verde was closed by the Federal Government. The creation of the program took place in 2011 during the administration of Dilma Rousseff.
Under the original program, extremely poor families living in protected areas or reserves and proved sustainable production practices received quarterly payments of BRL 300.
In the new format of the assistance program, families that already receive other benefits, such as Bolsa Família, will also be eligible to receive the additional resource. It is still not known for sure, but possibly the transfer will continue to be quarterly, that is, every three months.
Marina Silva emphasized that this inclusion must be based on recognition of the way of life of these families and the role they play in the preservation of Brazilian biomes.
According to the Government's project, the future intention is to expand the program to also cover traditional communities residing in other biomes, such as the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado.
