See how to save energy with your refrigerator

One of the ways to improve this conservation process is through correct storage in the refrigerator. When we pile up different foods on a shelf, in addition to hindering the view of what we have stored, we are also harmed in terms of cross-contamination.

Food has bacteria and fungi that are natural in their composition and different from each other. That way, when we put many types of food piled up in the same place in the fridge, we are also contributing for these microorganisms to be passed from one food to another, facilitating their decomposition.

In addition, depending on how they are organized, you may still be forcing some system of the refrigerator, causing it to draw more energy than necessary.

With that in mind, we've separated some tips for you to organize your fridge, making food have a longer shelf life and you can still save on your energy bill. Check out:

1. fridge door

According to experts, the refrigerator door is the environment that receives the least amount of cooling, and therefore, it is the “warmest” area of the refrigerator. It should be used to store water bottles, ketchup pots, mayonnaise and ready-made salad dressings, as well as other less full-bodied drinks.

2. upper shelves

The top shelves are the regions that receive an intermediate amount of cooling, so it should be used for storing foods that are more susceptible to temperature changes, and that are more sensitive to handling, such as: herbs and leaves for consumption constant.

3. bottom shelves

The lower shelves are the regions that have the greatest amount of cooling, so it is recommended that they be used to store food that is easily contaminated, such as cheese, milk and cooked food. However, it is important that you divide this space correctly and avoid accumulating volumes in the fridge. Otherwise, it will need to draw more and more energy, generating not only an imbalance in the cooling process, but also an increase in the electricity bill.
