– Tomorrow is February 29th, the day of the Year of the Jump competition! – Giraffe Giro tells her friends in the Hideout. Zig and Zag don't seem to understand, because they're new to Firefly Island.
– Every four years, we have an extra day in February. We call it the Year of the Leap. This is one of those years. Here, on the Ilha dos Pirilampos, on February 29th we have a competition. Everyone tries to jump, or jump, or whatever, as far as possible. The competition is tomorrow. So let's start practicing!


Spin marks a Start Line a short distance from the nearby sand pool.
'I'm going to be the marker,' the snake Silvia says, then she traces a jump line at the edge of the sand pool.
Friends form a line. One by one, they run really fast from the start line to the jump line. So they try to jump as far as they can.
Silvia marks the place where they fall into the sand.
- Angry! - She screams with each jump.
Some of the friends are amazing jumpers, and others weren't born for the sport. But it's so much fun trying to make the best jump possible that everyone loves the game.
For now, everyone is full of sand and out of breath.
– See you tomorrow – Giro says goodbye and trots home, leaving a small trail of sand in his wake.
