The company Google announced that, since last Thursday (8), a new version for the Chrome browser is now available. The novelty is in the functionalities that the browser will bring to reduce its consumption of energy and memory. The update brings two tools: “Memory Saver” and “Energy Saver”, created to save RAM memory consumption and save more battery.
Memory Saver reduces the RAM consumption of tabs that are not running but are open, reducing memory consumption by up to 10 GB. Tabs are inactive until the user runs them again, at which time they are reloaded. In addition, it is possible for the user to choose which sites will be subject to the Memory Saver, which serves to prevent certain sites from being reloaded in an unwanted way. Therefore, this new feature will free up more memory so that you can use other applications at the same time without suffering from crashes.
Regarding battery saving, Google created the Energy Saver feature, intended for notebooks, which automatically activates when the battery reaches 20%. This feature limits the background activities of other tabs, as well as reducing the visual effects of websites with animations and videos. It is noteworthy that both Energy Saver and Memory Saver can be activated or deactivated on certain sites, or in the way the user prefers.
These new features are now available for versions of Windows, macOS and Chromebooks.
