Icebergs are large chunks of ice, formed from fresh water, that break off from glaciers. They arise from the action of sea currents: over time, the rise and fall causes microfractures to appear in the ice. They expand until a piece breaks free, forming the iceberg. On average, icebergs measure 70 meters high. Of all this, between 60% and 70% are submerged. The density of ice is a little less than that of salt water. And they are also super heavy: on average, an arctic iceberg (in the North of the planet) weighs 200,000 tons; in Antarctica, 10 million tons are common!
