We must remember that standards of beauty change over time, they are not eternal and unchanging. In the 18th century, the muses of beauty were white and plump, as shown by Rembrandt and Rubens. In the nineteenth century, women were skeletal, pale, with deep shadows under their eyes. In the 20th century, we already had the curvy ones – Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lolobrigida. In the 70s symbol was Twiggy, super skinny.
In the 80s and 90s, the top models, are very thin and tall. But at the same time, we live with Sharon Stone and Demi Moore, full of curves and sensual body. We could, do the same studies with men from the perfect forms of the Greeks, to very thin men, ending Van Damme and Schwarzenegger. Anyway, we want to be equal and have the same shape and that is natural. The problem is when this is not possible and we start abusing our bodies and putting ourselves at physical or psychological risk to reach a goal that may be impossible.
It's important that we like ourselves. We see you as a small child who is very self-centered. After development, she starts to relate to other people, plays together, even her first friends. As a teenager, in addition to friends, the first passions, loves and more stable relationships develop. Liking yourself extends to developing relationships with other people.
