Most of our lives are spent in the workplace. We spend hours developing tasks that, apparently, do not have a close relationship with us.
Most human beings are constrained to work for the simple fact that work is especially survival. This idea, which is a reality, is indicating that work seems like an embarrassing element, if looked at in the immediate reference of fulfilling basic needs.
In the technological culture, work has acquired an extraordinary importance and it seems that it is very difficult for human beings to be able to live without working. The obligatory character of work gives it a punitive meaning, and many individuals see it that way. The situation of the adult worker is quite complex in our society, as jobs are indicated and ranked according to levels of preparation and specialization.
It is no use, therefore, thinking about the value of work as "free choice" since, increasingly, it imposes the mandatory training, which is often time-consuming, to assume an appropriate task in the culture contemporary.
