Nash bravely decided to apply for a position as a dishwasher, with the goal of getting the much-desired Xbox. Determined and unbeknownst to his own mother, he took the initiative to submit his application to work at the local Drake's restaurant. Upon spotting a hiring sign displayed outside the restaurant near his grandmother's house, Nash saw this opportunity as his chance to achieve his goal.
In an interview with WCNC, he shared his motivation and determination. With surprising confidence, Nash told the news outlet, "I'm pretty good at washing dishes." His only wish was to be able to buy a new Xbox console so he could play with his friends. He longed for this opportunity to get together with his friends and enjoy games on Xbox.
Despite having no prior work experience, as a young man, Nash was determined to follow his family's teachings on saving, earning, and giving money. With that mindset, he sent in his resume, emphasizing that this would be his first professional experience. He was willing to learn and put in the effort to achieve his goal of acquiring the video game console he wanted.
While lack of previous work experience was not a hindrance, Nash's age was an issue as he is an 8-year-old. At Drake's, the minimum age requirement to work is 16 years old. Still, Nash said he wasn't asked his real age during the application process, so he put in that he was under 18.
He was determined to do what he could to get the job, even if it meant circumventing the age restriction. The restaurant manager even thought he had forgotten the number 1 before the 8, as if he were an 18 year old candidate. Although Nash was not selected for the dishwasher position, the staff at Drake's was impressed with his determination and enthusiasm.
They appreciated his attitude and decided to invite him and his family to attend the hiring orientation and opening ceremony for the company's new location in the Leestown area of Lexington.
