Opened on November 14, at the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS), in the city of São Paulo, the exhibition “Comics” presents the universe of various comics, including Batman, Spider-Man, Monica's Gang, Mafalda and The Smurfs, through approximately 600 old magazines and comic books, autographed items and objects originals.
The objective of the exhibition is to trace the origins of comics, from rock art (from Prehistory) to the present day, showing the influence of comics in popular culture, such as in cinema and television.
This is not the first time that a major exhibition on the subject takes place in Brazil. In 1951, Álvaro de Moya, one of the main comic book researchers in our country, helped organize the First International Exhibition of Comics, also in São Paulo.
The exhibition “Comics” runs until March 31, 2019 – from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sundays and holidays. Half admission costs 15 reais, but the exhibition is free on Tuesdays.
