Old Jonas lives in an old farm with old Maria. The place is actually in a sorry state, the floor is full of holes and the roof has a lot of broken tiles, if he fixes it today, it will spoil again tomorrow.
He likes to plant, he has a cabbage plant with leaves over a handbreadth tall, the pea plant has many branches and has a branch full of new leaves. He also has a one-eared rabbit that is very gluttonous, the bastard eats everything, even before the harvest.
There are people who think it's a plague, everything goes wrong like that, but old Jonas doesn't care, he's very happy. Every evening when the sun is about to set, he wipes the sweat from his face on an old towel, frowns, looks up at the sky, drops to his knees and thanks.
“Thanks for my work! If it weren't for everyday planting and harvesting, cutting and sawing, taking care of the animals and the house, I would be an old man boring and grumpy on the brink of death, the way things are, I'm like an old woman who works a lot without complain. And you even gave me a wife, old Maria, to warm my feet.”
