By 2050, there will be more synthetic material than fish in the oceans, according to data released by the World Economic Forum. That's because 8 million tons of garbage are dumped into the seas every year. Plastic harms marine animals, which can get sick when they feed on the product.
The intention of the Kenyans at the head of the project is precisely to draw attention to the growing threat of plastic waste at sea and to the potential for reusing this material. The next challenge is to build a 25 meter long boat made from 100% reused garbage.
