Uber users will be able to request rides via WhatsApp in the near future. That's what Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced during the Conversations conference, which was held this month. According to the executive, the modality, which has already started operating in India in the testing phase, will also arrive in Brazil.

WhatsApp rides are already used in India, especially by new WhatsApp customers. The service takes place through a chatbot, fully automated. The process requires the user to fill in some information for the race, such as name and location, for example.
The test service in India has already shown a considerable result in the growth of Uber users there since it started operating in 2021. Thus, there is an additional motivation for the company to consider expanding the service to other parts of the world.
It is likely that the feature will work in a similar way in Brazil, but with some adaptations to facilitate the use of the service according to local consumption habits. But, despite the expectation of bringing the functionality to the country, there is still no prediction of when the service will be available here.
During the chat, the CEO did not go into detail about the availability of ride requests through the WhatsApp, however, generally unpublished resources land first in the big centers, to later reach the less populated.
Uber's expectation is to reach even more users by allowing integration with the messaging application. This initiative involving Uber and WhatsApp is part of a monetization plan for the messenger.
In this sense, what is known so far is that the user will receive information about the driver, model and license plate of the car in the messaging app. As the testing stage progresses, new information about the feature should emerge.
