NAME:
Not much is known about the life of this slave, even because other fabulists were named after him and the stories of their lives got mixed up. It is said that the fables of an Aesop so enchanted their owner that he set him free. It is said that this Aesop received honors and was received in royal palaces.

Your animals talk, make mistakes, are wise or foolish, bad or good, just like men. Aesop's intention, in his fables, is to show how we men can act.
Fables, told and readapted by their followers such as Phaedrus, La Fontaine and others, have become part of our daily language. “They're green”, we say when someone wants to achieve impossible things – which is the expression the fox used when he didn't get the grapes…
Aesop never wrote his stories. He told them to the people, who in turn undertook to repeat them.
More than two hundred years after his death, the fables were written and joined with those of various Aesops.
In countries other than Greece, in other civilizations, in other times, fables were always invented that remained anonymous. When we say in Brazil: “Old monkey don't put his hand in cumbuca!”, we are repeating the teaching of his fable.
Thus, we can say that everywhere the fable is a folktale, a lesson in intelligence, justice, sagacity, brought to us by our Aesops.
