The judge of the 1st Federal Court indicated that the data shown by Telegram proved that the company exposed neglect with the investigation. According to the magistrate, he requested information about a group of anti-Semitic people and was investigating a chat on the platform, in which people shared symbols of Nazism and things similar.
The personal data of all the people in this group were requested: profile photo, CPF, address, e-mail, bank account data and others.
Telegram selected insufficient data to pass on to Justice, which made it clear to the judge that the platform was unwilling to cooperate with the action. Only some data from an administrator of one of the groups were informed, with incomplete information.
The suspension arrived accompanied by a daily fine valued at R$ 1 million for each day that the company does not send the data. If it is not this amount, Justice asks for a fine of 5% of the company's revenue in Brazil last year.
Flávio Dino, Minister of Justice and Public Security, indicates that the extremist actions that took place in schools are part of anti-Semitic groups created on digital platforms.
“The Federal Police asked and the Judiciary granted that a social network that is not complying with the decisions, in the if Telegram, has a fine of R$ 1 million per day and temporary suspension of activities”, indicated the minister.
For the Federal Government, anti-Semitic groups act on Telegram and violence in schools has come from groups that share Nazi ideals.
