Kaspersky, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions and services, released a note to Brazilians about a new WhatsApp scam. According to the company, the coup is being carried out through notifications that appear in the smartphone browser.
In this sense, such an action informs victims that they would have amounts to be received from the Central Bank and promise an instant cash withdrawal via Pix. So, as soon as the Internet user clicks on the malicious link sent by WhatsApp, he is redirected to false pages in the Registrato system of the Central Bank of Brazil.

At the research level, Kaspersky experts spent four days receiving fraudulent notifications, which disclose advertising sites and associate programs - in this case, criminals apply the coup when the victim registers for a service or makes purchases on a website. However, the biggest problem was that one of these notifications tried to steal access to mobile banking from one of the specialists.
“We noticed a very similar behavior with the registration period for social benefits during the pandemic, in that the objective of the criminals is to collect personal and financial data from the victims and then withdraw the money in their name. However, with the bank's credential, it is also possible to carry out traditional financial fraud. Therefore, these are the two most likely consequences that I evaluate”, said the senior security analyst at Kaspersky in Brazil, Fabio Assolini.
