Currently, there are several possibilities to apply a coup, either through the internet, telephone or even on the street. Due to the great growth of the digital age, scammers, also known as scammers, develop new scams every day, which worries the population a lot.

According to the Serasa, every 17 seconds someone is hit in Brazil. In the electronic market alone, more than 3,600 attempts are made to fraud per minute. It is worth mentioning that the internet has become a territory with a lot of information, especially messages that, for the most part, are sent by e-mails, social networks and cell phones.

How do criminals act? Know some criminal practices

You criminals act in different ways, addressing victims through social networks, using fake profiles or sending emails with misleading messages, offering prizes, in addition to non-existent promotions. Faced with this situation, we separate two types of fraud, which are widely practiced on the network, check below.

– Phishing: It is an English term, which derives from “fishing“, which can be translated into Portuguese as “fishing”. Scammers use this tactic to “to fish” personal information of users on the Internet, using e-mails or false websites.

Action often goes unnoticed. Scammers usually send attractive emails to the consumer, presenting offers and discount coupons or millionaire prizes that, unfortunately, do not exist. To avoid falling victim to this scam, be wary of flashy advertisements that usually stipulate a time limit to redeem the prize or offer.

– Spoofing: This technique is related to the act of "to deceive” in English, where scammers impersonate another person or company. The purpose of the action is to get the victim to provide their personal information directly to them, pretending to be employees of an already known company, thus applying the coup soon afterwards.

It is important to be aware of this practice, since companies never contact the customer requesting their personal data. If you encounter this situation, contact the company directly and find out if the contact is true.
