Low IQ and the reasons for it

People with below average IQ are considered to have an intellectual disability disorder. These are people who, even with a lot of effort, may find it difficult to perform intellectual activities and follow social behaviors, despite their wishes.

Explanations for the development of this deficiency may be related to nutrition problems during pregnancy or complications in childbirth due to lack of oxygenation. Or even exposure to certain illnesses, such as whooping cough and measles, which were not treated quickly.

People with very high intelligence are known as, "gifted" and have a lot of ease in intellectual activities. They are known for asking a lot of questions and being able to acquire knowledge on their own.

The man who was manipulated by his low IQ

Yes, it is possible to have an IQ below half the average and one of the proofs of this is Joseph Arridy, born in the United States of America in the last century. Joseph was tested by 3 psychologists and it was found that he had the IQ of 46 points only. After this discovery, he ended up in a school for children with mental disabilities.

At age 23, he was sentenced to death after he was coerced by police officers into confessing to a crime he did not commit. Joseph Arridy was convicted of attacking and raping two girls aged 12 and 15 while they slept. One of them died. Joseph admitted that he did not know what was right or wrong even though he had no idea of the crime he was assuming he had committed.

His death penalty was by gas chamber. As a result, Joseph became known as “the happiest man on death row”, precisely because he had no idea of the seriousness of the situation in which he was included. He was so incapable of analyzing the reality of the situation that when told of his death he said, "No, no, Joe is not going to die."
