The reason for GM's decision, according to Barra, is strategic and focuses on the automaker's desire to continue production of electric vehicles, related to other models. Like the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, pickup models with an annual production forecast of 600,000 vehicles.
The mechanical part of the two cars is similar and features an engine with a power of 203 horsepower and an excellent autonomy index for the average driver, with 377 km.
To meet consumers' safety requirements, the car is equipped with airbags, intelligent remote assistants and different sensors.
