The lucky woman who found 16 million reais in the spam box is called Laura Spears, resident of Oakland County, Michigan, United States. Laura is 55 years old and has purchased a Michigan Lottery ticket for the Mega Millions draw on December 31, 2021.
Before purchasing the ticket, the woman found out about the value of the prize through an ad on Facebook. So she decided to gamble, logged into her account and bought a lottery ticket.
That way, Laura managed to match five numbers and won BRL 5,458,700.00. But her luck didn't stop there. She was even entitled to a function called Megaplier, where it is possible to multiply the prize by three, making the amount rise to approximately R$ 16,376,000.00.
The most curious thing is that Laura was not even aware of what she won. Days after the draw, she was looking for a lost email in her account and ended up accessing her spam box. It was at this point that the woman noticed the email from the lottery informing her that she was the winner of a prize.
Unsurprisingly, the woman couldn't believe what she was seeing and entered her lottery account to confirm the information. Thus, the data was clarified, proven and Laura was able to claim her prize at the lottery headquarters.
Now she says she will share the prize with her family, retire early and even promises to check her spam folder regularly.
