First of all, it is important to point out that national breaks are provided for by law throughout Brazil, while optional points are valid only for civil servants. Even so, it is interesting to mention that states and municipalities have the power to enact as law that some points are, in fact, applied and result in a pause in some activities. On November 20, for example, Black Consciousness Day is celebrated in the country. Next year it will fall on a Monday. Unfortunately this date is not listed as a holiday or an optional point. Therefore, it is up to the municipality or state to decree it as one or the other, however there are no guarantees.

• February 21 (Tuesday): Carnival;
• February 22 (Ash Wednesday): Carnival;
• June 8th and 9th (Thursday and Friday): Corpus Christi;
• October 28 (Saturday): Public Servant Day.
