In recent decades, Planet Earth has experienced constant overheating, mainly due to the burning of fossil fuels. Thus, much is discussed about a possible extinction of human beings in the coming centuries. But this is not the only problem, as this study also points to an increase in fish deaths due to global warming.

Researchers have identified that one of the major consequences of climate change is precisely the death of fish. This is a discussion in a new article which was published by Limnology and Oceanography Letters in August 2022.
According to the study, the increase in fish deaths is expected to increase by at least 6 times in the coming decades until 2100. In fact, many species have already started to enter the endangered lists due to the significant loss of these populations.
Until then, most fish deaths in lakes and oceans occurred in summer, during warmer periods. However, climate change could intensify heat across the board and thereby result in year-round deaths.
To reach this conclusion, the researchers compiled data on fish deaths between 2003 and 2013 in US lakes. Among the main causes was the presence of infectious pathogens, whose increase in the lakes is, according to the researchers, a result of the increase in temperatures in these regions.
Now, scholars are dedicated to studying the impact of the loss of these species, not only for the balance of nature, but for human life. After all, many populations around these lakes survive with the help of fishing.
In the face of this, entire communities may suffer from food shortages in the coming decades. Unfortunately, some studies point to the theory that we are at an irreversible point in the climate crisis and that, therefore, we must work on harm reduction. In this case, the reduction of the carbon emission rate would be essential.
