Today is the last day to pay IPVA in São Paulo

Owners of motor vehicles with final license plate 0 in the state of São Paulo will have until today (23) to pay the Tax on Motor Vehicle Ownership (IPVA) and take advantage of the 5% discount on the 1st installment or full quota of the tax. The IPVA calendar has dates since January 2022. The 1st installment of February with a 5% discount started on the last 10th.

The government has two ways to pay the tax, which can be paid in a single installment or in five installments, from February to June. After deciding to pay in installments, take care of the numbering of your license plate, as the first quota for those whose ending is 0 expires this Wednesday (23).

How to make the payment?

To make the payment, just present the Renavam (National Motor Vehicle Registry) through the forms provided by banks or lottery shops. However, if the taxpayer is unable to make the payment in a single installment, or in five installments, a fine of 0.3% per day of delay and late payment interest will be charged at the Selic rate. If it exceeds 60 days from the due date, a flat fee of 20% of the tax amount will be charged.

Who should pay the tax?

The IPVA consists of a state tax that seeks to collect amounts with the use of vehicles by the population. Who must pay it are the owners of:

• Bus;
• Pickup trucks;
• pickup trucks;
• Automobiles;
• motorcycles;
• Micro bus.
