O new RG national was announced a short time ago and has already started to be issued in some states since last year, in July 2022. As a result, many Brazilians have been questioning the deadline for issuing the new document and how this will begin to be done. For this reason, we will solve your doubts about the National Identity Card (CIN), the name of the new document that will replace the old RG.

Understand below how the new Identity Card will work from now on:
Regarding the validity of the old RG, we will still have plenty of time to plan the exchange, since the Government Federal decided to make a slower and more gradual change, giving a deadline of February 28, 2032!
That way, we'll have enough time to finally decide to carry out this exchange. In addition, Brazilians over 60 years old will not be required to redo the document.
CIN will unify all the numbers registered by the different states of the country. And it will no longer be necessary to use the General Registration number (RG – which will cease to exist), and only the Cadastro de Pessoa Física (CPF) will be the only identification number for individuals in Brazil whole.
In addition, the new card promises to have a more standardized and suitable style for use in bureaucracies, not only within the state itself, but also for travel and the like.
And another curiosity is that the CIN can be obtained both in a physical model and in a digital model, to facilitate transport and some simple transactions. It is mandatory to issue the physical version, especially for those who do not have internet access.
The issuance of the new card has already started to be carried out, but it is currently available in only 11 Brazilian states, namely: Acre; Alagoas; Federal District; Goiás; Mato Grosso; Minas Gerais; Paraná; Pernambuco; Rio Grande do Sul; Rio de Janeiro; Santa Catarina.
Since the new deadline for the remaining states to start issuing the CIN will be until November 6, 2023.
