There is already a date for issuing the new RG. The first batch is already being released in the state of São Paulo, but in the other states it will be available from August 4th, according to a statement made by the federal government this last monday.
In this first phase of distribution, the states that have CPF will be the first to receive it and the others will receive it gradually, until March 2023. The new RG is a national achievement that will bring more security and practicality.

At the first moment of distribution, the states that may request it will be: Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Goiás, Acre, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais and also the Federal District. The other states will have access to the new document gradually.
As it is an important document for every Brazilian, the replacement of the model will be done free of charge. But, an urgent exchange will not be required, only people over the age of 60 should carry out the exchange.
The change aims to unify the documents in a single number, the CPF, to guarantee the reduction of fraud, since that, it will have a verification QR code that will allow the veracity analysis even without access to the Internet.
With the aim of ensuring more security for Brazilians, avoiding fraud and also in terms of practicality, the new RG will have two versions, one physical and the other digital. The idea is that both are valid in the national territory, but that the paper version is more focused on those Brazilians who do not have access to the internet and computers.
Thus, the digital version will be made available through a federal government application after the physical card is issued.
It is worth remembering that the document continues to be in force only in national territory and in Mercosur countries. For other parts of the world, the passport is still considered the only identification document.
