The General Registry is an identification document widely used in Brazil. It is issued by the Public Security Departments of each state and its main objective is to identify Brazilian citizens. It contains important information such as full name, affiliation, date of birth, place of birth, photo, identification number, among others. It is a personal and non-transferable document, being required in various situations, such as opening a bank account, applying for a loan, withdrawing documents from public offices, among others.
The good news is that it already has a digital version that is even better: it can be accessed from your cell phone!
